About this item:

This pattern includes both single skein and three color versions in fingering or sport weight, which makes it an excellent stash buster.

Alzheimer’s and dementia are so difficult to navigate emotionally as a caregiver or loved one. As I’ve watched my dad progress in his dementia, though, I’ve found that even in these last stages when he doesn’t know who we are, there’s still beauty. He knows we love him. He knows he loves us. To honor those you love, Cherish Each Memory. This pattern comes from the desire to honor my dad Gordon and my grandmother-in-law Anne, and all of us who love them.

Gauge:
22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches

Needle Size:

US 6 - 4.0 mm
US 7 - 4.5 mm

Yardage:

300 - 400 yards (274 - 366 m) of Fingering or Sport Weight yarn

Pigtails addendum to Cherish
To use three single pigtails, do the following modifications:

Cast on 128 sts using color 3. Being careful not to twist, place end of round marker and prepare to work in the round.
Work four rounds: *k1, p1, rep from * to end of round. Break yarn and begin section one with color 1. Work three full repeats, then continue to section two (fading in color 2). Work section three (cat’s eye lace) for five repeats instead of six, then continue on to section four (fading in color 3). Work section five as written, then work four rounds of ribbing. Bind off using a stretchy bind off. Weave in ends and block!
