The first in a collection of single skein designs based upon Oink Pigments’ Yarn of the Month 2021 (their Zodiac series), this lacy hat is based upon Aquarius. The child/adult small uses one skein of Oink’s Mystic DK base and size US4/US6 needles and the adult large size uses one skein of their Dapper worsted base and size US5/US7 needles. The instructions are the same for both with sizing done with the needles and yarn weights due to complex math.

When Oink and I decided to collaborate, I knew I wanted to use people I love from each sign as my inspiration. My middle child is a sassy tween Aquarius with definite ideas of what she wants. Per her request, I designed a lacy, loose-fitting beanie with faux fur pompon. She is my sunshine girl, so I chose a lace pattern reminiscent of the rays of the sun, and I named the hat Let the Sun Shine after “The Age of Aquarius” from the musical Hair. I hope you enjoy knitting this beauty as much as my beautiful sunshine girl loves wearing hers.
